Daddy Skippa is a true veteran of UK reggae culture — a Wolverhampton‑born DJ of Jamaican heritage whose musical journey began in childhood and grew into one of the Midlands’ most respected sound‑system careers. His story is rooted in passion, family, resilience and a lifelong dedication to good music.

Skippa first touched the decks at just 10 years old, selecting tunes from his late uncle’s vast record collection and playing at family parties long before he knew music would become his destiny. By the time he left school, he had already built a personal archive of cassette tapes — many of which he still treasures today.

In 1982, Skippa and his brother took their shared love of music onto the road, playing parties, clubs, carnivals and events across the UK. Their early success led them to build their own sound system, which would later become the legendary Skippa & Lippy International. After the tragic passing of his brother, Skippa continued the mission with even greater determination, carrying the sound forward in his honour.

Throughout the 80s and 90s, Daddy Skippa became a familiar name on the UK circuit, winning numerous music competitions and performing on radio stations nationwide. His career soon expanded internationally, taking him across Europe and Africa, including a historic moment in the early 90s when he became the first reggae DJ to play in Gambia for the President — a milestone he still holds with pride.

Skippa’s radio journey began with guest hosting alongside the great Barry Curtis on Beacon Radio, before joining Skyline Radio in the late 1980s, where he remains a long‑standing and much‑loved presenter. Decades later, he continues to entertain audiences worldwide, bringing joy, culture and timeless music to every session.

From the 1970s sound‑system roots to global stages, Daddy Skippa’s legacy is built on passion, perseverance and pure musical energy. A true ambassador of reggae culture — respect every time.
