Simmer Down Sunday is one of Skyline Radio’s most iconic programmes — a Sunday afternoon institution broadcasting at the same time and day since 1988. Hosted by the legendary Big Bad Captain, the show delivers a rich blend of classics, exclusives, and cultural commentary that has kept generations of listeners locked in for nearly four decades.

• 3:30–4:00pm: Special Guest Segment — Interviews and features with artists from the UK, JA, and worldwide
• 4:00–4:45pm: Main Feature – Hottest Vocal Selection — UK & JA pre‑releases, exclusive albums, and brand‑new riddims
• 4:45–5:00pm: UK Lovers Rock Classics — A sweet, soulful close to the show

The Legacy

With 38 years of broadcasting, Big Bad Captain is one of the Midlands’ most respected selectors. A member of CNC Music since 1989, he has shared stages with global icons including Garnett Silk, Buju Banton, Capleton, Chronixx, Beres Hammond, and UK legends like Lloyd Brown, Macka B, and Peter Hunnigale. He has also performed alongside world‑renowned sound systems such as Stone Love, Bass Odyssey, and Saxon Sound.

Now joined by his son YNG CPTN, the legacy continues — with both performing at major events including Reggae Land since 2024.

Simmer Down Sunday is more than a show. It’s a cultural cornerstone, a Sunday escape, and a celebration of decades of music, heritage, and community.
