Anthony ‘Pure Silk’ Brightly
Anthony "Pure Silk" Brightly is a pioneering figure in British reggae and sound system culture. As co-founder of Black Slate and original selector of the legendary Sir George Sound, he has spent more than five decades promoting reggae music, Lovers Rock, roots culture and community development. Growing up between Antigua and London, Anthony became part of the generation that helped establish UK reggae on the world stage. Through Sir George Sound and Black Slate, he has performed internationally while helping preserve the culture and heritage of reggae music. Today Anthony continues his work as a broadcaster, producer, festival organiser and filmmaker. He is the founder of the DeJam Festival in Antigua and remains committed to connecting generations through music, culture and education. Music with meaning. Culture with purpose.
